Nestled in the backcountry of Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city, Stag Point is the only a 45-minute drive from Wellington international airport. The estate boasts over 200 hectares of pure New Zealand countryside where wild red deer roam free. Catering to the most experienced hunter or a first time hunter we will make your day.
Get lost in the expansive views before preparing to score a great head for the wall or stalking a nice red deer and fill the freezer with venison. Hunt your first deer, teach your kids how to hunt and father and son, or just you. Our professional guide will be with you to guarantee your safety and ensure your success.

4 Day Guided Sika Hunt - Kaweka/Kaimanawa Ranges - POA
Meet your Stag Point guide in either Wellington or Taupo to travel into a private location in central New Zealand. Our pilot will then drop you and your guide at one of the best trophy Sika hunting spots in NZ. Here you will spend the next four days hunting and exploring the wild expansive terrain with the help of your knowledgeable guide. Be ready for an epic adventure.

4 Day Guided Tahr Hunt – South Island POA
All inclusive for one hunter for everything including pick up and drop off at airport at the end of the hunt.
All free range and fair chase – we don’t give guarantees but have had a very good success rate to date on big trophy bulls. Exercise level: 7/10

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Are all hunts guided?
A. At Stag Point they are all guided, however, depending on your skill level and gun license we can organise trips around NZ that don't require a guide.
Q. How much experience do I need?
A. For the Game Estate you don't need any experience, our guide will talk you through the whole process. For anything outside of the game park you need a general knowledge of hunting.
Q. How safe is it
A. At the Game Estate it is very safe and safety is paramount. Hunts outside Stag Point are subject to NZ weather and terrain which require a sound knowledge of hunting in the elements. Your guides are there to assist you.
Q. What equipment will I need?
A. We prefer that people bring their own equipment simply for their own comfort, however, we have everything you need if you don't have anything e.g. gun and ammunition.
Q. How do we get to Stag Point?
A. If in NZ, you can either drive to us or fly to Wellington and we will arrange transfers.
Q. What do we do with the animal?
A. It depends on what you want. You can take it with you or we can take to a local butchery or send to a taxidermy at an additional cost.
Q. How much does butchery cost?
A. It does depend on the animal, but usually around $100 to butcher and package ready for the freezer. You do get a lot of meat for that price and we use a professional game butcher to maximise the yield. Courier fees are extra.
Q. How much does taxidermy cost?
A. Taxidermy is done by a our professional in central North Island. Costs are approximately $2000+ (for a large red deer 14+ pts) but it does depend on the animal and work involved.
Q. Can anyone come on a hunt with me?
A. On a guided hunt at the Estate, you can have one other person with you (non-hunting). The helicopter trips are priced for two people however we can arrange for larger groups. Please contact us for a quote.
